Arrived in Lisbon safe and sound, strange thing was the plane parked 30 minutes away from the terminal, when we finally got to the terminal it took 10 minutes to get down town by taxi.

The hotel we picked ( was from Rick Steve’s book) could not have been any better located right in the middle of the

old city down town, the name of it was Internacional Design Hotel, if you ever get here!!

As we did not have a map of the area from Kevin Trish and I where on our own, the hotel gave us 2/3 resturant they would recommend , the one that became favourite was called Sacramento’s , the food service and price was superb ,needless to say we went there a couple of times

the following day’s we did the tourist thing, St Gorge Castle, and as you would imagine this looks over the whole city and can be seen from absolutely anywhere. We also did the regulation cathedrals, specifically St Anthony’s and St Vincent’s, based on all the other cathedrals we have been into on this trip, the Portuguese cathedrals are the best maintained and prestine.

the following day we went to the shrine Fatima , commonly known as a place of faith and healing, this was one and half hours bus tour , sold as a half day tour but lasted seven hours.

Our lady of Fatima was an apparition where Our lady appeared to thee children in the place called Fatima, this was not so long ago In May 1917. She then appeared five more times on the 13th of each month and by October 70000 people were there to confirm it.

For those believers Trish and I lit candles and said prayers , for those non believers Trisha and I lit candles and said prayers, whether you like it or not.

Now the site has a massive basilica and a new church ( because the Basilica is not big enough.)

Trish and I came away feeling quite good about ourselves.

Other things we found about Portugal’s Lisbon, Portuguese is a lot harder to decipher than Spanish is, the place is spotlessly clean, the roads and highways are more than sufficient , nobody uses there horn !!! , finally their are no cats or dogs anywhere to be seen, which was strange after Istanbul.

we spent the last day chilling out in a park overlooking the city ,basically people watching.

And now we are off to Galė, for some beach time and to meet an old friend from Years ago and her husband.

speak to you from there
