The New Story

My wife and I recently started a weekly vlog; it’s mainly a car conversation vlog, recorded with a GoPro camera on the dash of the car, recording our discussions about race in America, as experienced through our eyes.

Each week we have the chance to frame an episode by choosing a topic, discussing segments that relate to that topic and then generating an outline of what we might talk about in the car. Once the cameras are rolling, however, it’s improv time — there is no script.

We’ve been surprised by the reception.

Last night, we planned the 3rd official episode. Darlene and I are having a great time — though, admittedly, facing stressful situations like short deadlines and tech failures, too — planning, filming, and producing this content for an audience of friends and strangers. After ten years together, creating this vlog is bringing something to life that we’ve always wanted — that’s being creative partners on a project.

That’s the new story that we are writing: how we came together as creative and intellectual partners to create something new in, and something that we hope adds value to, the world.

What’s your new story?

How are you engaging in a new plot line with your loved ones?

The people you respect the most?

The people you value the most?

How are you creating the beautiful future together?
