Canadian pop artist, Lights, born Valerie Anne Poxleitner, lit up the stage (literally) this past Wednesday, February 25 at Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale. The all-ages crowd was more than ready to dance, and sing along with the songstress from the great white north. Stopping in Lauderdale on her Little Machines Tour made the crowd quite happy as she belted through her repertoire of songs from her new album mixed in with previously released songs.

Lights, is a non-stop bundle of energy, as she jumps between playing her synths to dancing from one end of the stage to the other. The colors and lighting were a huge part of the show as she worked the audience, and commanded the room. At only 27 years old, she has the swagger of a seasoned performer and it shows that she loves what she does. The reaction from the crowd at the end of every song is a great sign, that Lights has a bright future ahead of her. Opening the show was upstate New York band X Ambassadors, who also had quite the following at the show as well. There were audience members, who didn’t know of them before Wednesday, but I can assure you, they made some new fans. These are definitely two artists to watch out for in the coming years.
