Whitesnake: Purple Tour Hits Seminole Hard Rock
Florida may have a python problem, but the only thing slithering at the Seminole Hard Rock was Whitesnake! Frontman and founder, David Coverdale, has been at this since the early 1970s and he still knows how to entertain a crowd. Touring on behalf of their latest and 12th album, The Purple Album, featuring re-recorded Coverdale songs from his previous stint with Deep Purple back in the ‘70s.
Whitesnake had their most successful years in the 80’s with hits “Love ain’t no Stranger”, “Give me all your Love”, “Is This Love”, “Bad Boys”, Here I Go Again”, “Still of the Night” which all made the set list as well as several Deep Purple era songs.
With David belting out these classics, lest not forget the rest of the current members of Whitesnake, who with their decades of hard rock experience, made this show one of the year’s best. On drums, the always powerful Tommy Aldridge who showed no mercy to the skies this evening. Legendary guitarists Reb Beach, who has had success with acts such as (Winger, Dokken, Night Ranger & Alice Cooper), and Joel Hoekstra (Night Ranger, Rock of Ages, Nelson) worked the crowd, the stage and did what veteran axe men do, they kicked ass! Bassist Michael Devin and touring keyboard player/ backup singer, the Italian Stallion Michele Luppi rounded out the band.
Now, I know, for all you old school rock fans, when you think of Whitesnake, visions of Tawny Kitaen sprawled out on the hood of a Jaguar usually comes to mind, well, that didn’t happen. What did happen was a solid set of great rock and roll songs performed by one of the best rock bands to grace a stage in the last 30 years. A great audience, a great show, a great album (The Purple Album) which I highly recommend, and a great night! Always support live music!
