“BRDM, 12 o clock; pass it on to that guy”

Just a thought about the former USSR’s Westernmost outpost (well, apart from the Baltic states).

No axe to grind here, but the person claiming to be Belarus’s “National Leader” in exile, has just asked Belarusians to join “30,000” others and “inform” its enemy, Ukraine, about troop and equipment movements inside their national borders. She’s asking Belarusians to spy against their own country in wartime. Few, if any, Western democracies would tolerate such activity. This seems more like an attempt to foment civil war than one to attract new domestic support.

Indeed, it feels reminiscent of people urging Ukranian grannies to throw Molotov cocktails at Russian troops and thereby present themselves as legitimate targets according to the Geneva Convention.

Some expatriats and foreign governments seem determined to fight to the last person in the country they’re not in.
