Donald Trump Campaign Manager Kellyanne Conway Shatters Glass Ceiling
Glass ceilings were shattered on Election Day. A historic moment for women came from President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign, where Kellyanne Conway became the first woman to successfully run a presidential campaign. Conway is not only a campaign manager, but also a strategist, pollster and CEO of The Polling Company/WomanTrend.
After her parents divorced, she was raised in a house full of women by her Irish-Italian mother, grandmother and aunts where faith, family and hard work were celebrated.
During an interview with the Las Vegas Review, she shared her strategy for tough negotiations using her 11-year-old as an example.
When her daughter, Claudia, emerged from her room on Memorial Day sporting turquoise, Conway asked her to change into blue.
“She goes, ‘Turquoise is blue.’ And it is. But it wasn’t a shade available to Betsy Ross when she stayed up through the night sewing the damn flag.”
Conway, explaining the need to give options and not command another, chose not to argue but instead laid out four alternatives and “minutes later,” she says, “she came out in one of those shades.”
In 2005, Conway co-authored the book What Women Really Want: How American Women Are Quietly Erasing Political, Racial, Class, and Religious Lines to Change the Way We Live along with Democratic strategist Celinda Lake. Currently, Kellyanne and her husband, George T. Conway III, have 4 children and live in New Jersey.
Congratulations Kellyanne Conway!!
