A psychopath with violent fantasies is unleashed on the public and then goes about enacting the very murder he fantasized about while in psychiatric care.

The Online Mask that He Wore

Online Carol Langdell sounded like a catch; he not only was a practicing lawyer but owned a firm. But in reality, the past two years of his life had been spent in and out of psychiatric hospitals.

While in one of those hospitals, Langdell had told a nurse that he had “violent fantasies of murdering women and raping them.”

He specifically told his psychiatric nurse that he had fantasies about his girlfriend’s younger sister. “I want to cut her throat, take her clothes off to see her naked, and then have sex with her when she is dead.”

Langell also told the nurse that he planned to call her before, during, and after the violent attack. So he could prove to her that he was serious about his threats.

But that confession would not be passed onto the psychiatrists that were treating him.

Langdell had been detained in the psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act because he had threatened to kill a different woman.
