The US Government has not executed a female in 67 years and has only executed three previously.
1 | In 1865, Mary Surratt was convicted of helping planning the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. She was hanged.
2 | In 1953, Ethel Rosenberg was convicted of being a Soviet spy against the US and was killed in the electric chair.
3 | Also, in 1953, Bonnie Heady, who had been apart of the kidnapping and murder of a young boy. She was executed in the gas chamber. ***Strange Fact: Heady grew up only 20 miles north of Skidmore (home of this victim), in Clearmont, Missouri, that’s also where she’s buried.
