First Known Victim

In 1971 Ricardo Caputo had been dating Natalie Brown 19 for over a year, and they had talked about getting married. The couple was spending the night at Natalie’s parent’s house in Flower Hill, New York, on the night of July 31st. Unfortunately for Natalie, it would be her last night.

Caputo stabbed her multiple times. Afterwards, he called the police and reported what he had done. He was arrested that night.

While awaiting trial, the authorities discovered that he was an Argentinian native who had come to America in 1970. While he was in his home country of Argentina, Caputo had been treated for mental illness. He was given a mental health examination while in custody, and it was determined he was not competent to stand for trial.

After his incompetent verdict, Caputo was sent to the Matteawan State Mental Hospital.
