Jack Henry Abbott
He was born on a military base in Michigan to an American soldier and a Chinese woman in 1944. Before he turned 18, Abbott had already spent nine years in reformatories.
He was released at the age of 18 and was only free for six months before being arrested for writing bad checks. While incarcerated at the Utah penitentiary, he stabbed an inmate to death and injured another, giving him a longer prison sentence.
Abbott escaped prison in 1971 and was arrested for bank robbery in Colorado. For this, he was given 19 years to be served in federal prison after his state sentence was finished.
