Mexican Police Can’t Locate Parents of Toddler Found Wandering Barefoot and Alone Outside Church

Around 9 PM on May 2, 2022, Carlos Canto and his family were standing outside the Parroquia San Miguel Arcángel in Cancun, Mexico, when a man approached him and warned him his child was too close to the road. Carlos told him that the girl wasn’t his, and the stranger replied,
“I will go around the church to look for the family and I’ll come back. Can you take care of the little girl just for a few seconds?”
The man never returned. Though the toddler was calm, she was wandering around barefoot and alone. Carlos called the police, and they took her into custody.
Hoping someone would recognize her, Carlos shared a picture of the child on his Facebook. The post went viral, and an Australian woman was alerted by a family friend in Mexico that the toddler looked like her granddaughter, 2-year-old Adelynn.
