Shaun Duffy was a 36-year-old from Donegal, Ireland. He worked as an undertaker, bouncer, and mechanic. The single man was also involved in motor racing and horse sales.

On January 28, 2005, Shaun celebrated his younger brother’s birthday at the Strand View Bar in Maghery. They later visited their mother’s home, and at 2:30 AM, Shaun made a short drive to his house in Meenacross.

The next afternoon, Kevin went to check on his brother after he didn’t answer several of his phone calls,

“The inside door on the porch which my brother always used wasn’t locked. I knew straightaway something was wrong because he always locked it.

I found Shaun inside lying face-down on the sofa and there was a lot of blood. I noticed a large gash on his head and an arrow in his arm. He was cold and I felt for a pulse but couldn’t get one. I knew straightaway he was dead.”

The house had been ransacked, and there was blood on the walls. Shaun had been repeatedly stabbed and suffered several blows to the head. He had also been shot with a crossbow in his right arm.
