Sigrid Stevenson’s violent murder has been unsolved for 47 years.

Sigrid Miller Stevenson was a 25-year-old master’s student at Trenton State College in New Jersey. Originally from Livermore, California, Sigrid aspired to become a music teacher.

The young woman was described as a free spirit and had started playing the piano at a young age. Her friend Carol Edson recalled,

“When she would play the piano, a completely different side of her would emerge that was just calm and powerful.”

At 11:30 PM on September 4, 1977, Officer Thomas Kokotajlo of the Trenton State Campus Police was on patrol when he noticed a green bike by the side entrance to Kendall Hall,

“My shift started at 11 o’clock. I’m driving on campus, past the theatre. As my car pulled up, my headlights captured a bicycle that was chained to the railing. I could see that it was a female’s bike, no one was supposed to be on campus for another three to four days.”
