Woman Posing as Social Worker Kidnaps a U.S. Marine’s Newborn
Authorities believe Kevin Verville Jr. is alive and unaware that he was abducted 45 years ago.
Kevin Art Verville Jr. was born on June 14, 1980, in Southern California. His mother, Angelina, was 22 years old and an immigrant from the Philippines. She had met 21-year-old Kevin Verville Sr., a US Marine corporal, while he was stationed in her country two years earlier.
The couple lived at Sterling Homes, an off-base apartment complex for military families stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, San Diego County.
Kevin was born with jaundice and was a week old when Angelina and Kevin Sr. were finally able to bring him home. Just days after the family settled down, a woman showed up at their apartment and introduced herself as Sheila.
Sheila claimed to be a social worker with Project Help, an organization that assisted low-income military families. She offered to help the new parents with food, diapers, formula, and possibly $100 in monthly benefits.
Angelina and Kevin Sr. accepted the aid, and Sheila promised to come back to enroll them in the program.
