The Mysterious Disappearance of Brian Shaffer
The Medical Student Who Vanished From An Ohio Bar
Brian Shaffer, a 27-year-old medical student at Ohio State University, vanished without a trace in the early hours of April 1, 2006.
His disappearance remains one of the most perplexing and haunting unsolved cases in recent history, captivating the public’s imagination and baffling investigators.
The Night of the Disappearance
Brian Shaffer was last seen at the Ugly Tuna Saloona, a popular bar in Columbus, Ohio, where he had been celebrating the start of his spring break with friends.
Surveillance footage from the bar captured Brian entering the establishment around 1:15 a.m. on April 1, but there is no video evidence of him leaving.
This anomaly is one of the key mysteries of the case, as the bar had only one exit, which was under surveillance.
Earlier that evening, Brian had dinner with his father, Randy Shaffer, and afterward met up with his friend, William “Clint” Florence.
Together, they bar-hopped through the Arena District before ending up at the Ugly Tuna Saloona. Around 2 a.m., Brian was separated from his friends and seemingly vanished into thin air.
