A New Paradigm In Enterprise Technology – #RunMobile
Organizations have always relied on technology to innovate and improve productivity and so on. But over the last few years, we’ve seen an explosion of mobile technologies. And in turn, that’s creating huge new opportunities – and threats – for most enterprises. Consumers are increasingly willing to buy goods and services through digital channels. Over 50 percent of air travel is now purchased online, for example. The new workforce demands greater flexibility and ability to work from anywhere anytime. But in addition to that, we are seeing mobile being used to automate previously manually intensive activities. Perhaps more fundamentally, new attackers are emerging that are offering very differentiated value propositions for customers, or perhaps a radically lower cost structure. So when you put these different trends together, you can see that mobility becomes a top agenda item for most executives.
Most enterprise technology is still old and legacyish when compared to consumer technology. Many people believe that enterprise tech is behind because it can be but the question is should it be? We still haven’t entirely opened the doors of enterprise mobility which goes beyond a pretty interface connected to a legacy system. A truly mobile enterprise is one where processes, workflows, reports, tasks, dashboards, communication are built, integrated, automated and run on mobile. We believe that enterprise mobility is key to the future of work and the future of work is agile, desk less and mobile. Over 1.5 billion people in the world don’t sit behind a desk and most of them own a mobile phone which they use in some way to do their job. So for CIOs & CTOs out there it is Go Mobile or Go Home!
Forrester report data shows that the most “mobile-mature” companies have higher growth rates than companies that are mobile laggards. Mobile does even more than that, the report concludes:
“Mobile can transform the way organizations work, bring down costs and improve efficiency.”
As an example: Imagine how much faster your business could run – for example – if you could assign a service technician automatically to an incident irrespective of their current location. The app would then automatically trigger an appointment with the customer and order spare parts so they can be delivered in time. Additionally, required service manuals could be provided in real-time on the service technician’s mobile device.
Forrester confirms what many people intuitively know:
“CIOs have no room for failure when it comes to mobile. It’s no idle warning.”
