My Top 5 Pizza Joints in Hamilton
While some would say pizza is a delicacy, others as myself would say it’s a way of life. Regardless of where you land on that scale, we all need this delicious food in our lives. The beautiful thing about pizza is that it can be prepared to meet everyone’s taste preferences. Size and toppings are just the start for customizability — special dietary needs like gluten free, lactose free, vegan or vegetarian friendly can also be met! While there are plenty of amazing local pizzerias in Hamilton, I have composed an opinionated list of 5 different pizza joints in Hamilton (in no specific order) that are of particular delight to me.
Capri Ristorante Italiano — The crew here has been making pizza through the decades; since 1963 to be precise. It’s safe to say that they know what they’re doing when it comes to making pizza. If anyone has ever had Capri pizza before, they know that Capri trademarks every creation with a ball of dough in the centre of each pizza. Expect the same great taste whether you are taking out or dining in. If you do decide to dine in, I highly recommend checking out La Grotta Azzura (The Blue Grotto) located on the second floor.
Chicago Style Pizza — This one is for all my deep dish lovers out there. Crazy huge amount of cheese, delicious sauce and loaded with toppings. It doesn’t get much better than that folks. Chicago Style Pizza offers dine-in, delivery and take-out but make sure you arrive early or place an order ahead of time because this place is always packed!! Chicago Style Pizza is always worth the wait because it’s the most authentic Chicago style deep dish pizza joint around!!
The Red Door Cucina — This place hits me right in the Italian feels. Offering take-out and catering, Red Door executes an authentic Italian tasting pizza flawlessly. If you are a fan of local ingredients that offer a huge kick of flavour, you can stop reading now (just kidding, keep reading). Brick oven pizza is a huge trend right now and these guys nail it. Knead Pizza — I consider these guys like a hybrid of pizza. I love a good ol’ greasy pizza but I also love gourmet toppings. With Knead, you get a taste of both worlds. They offer take-out, delivery and they have a generous amount of seating space to dine in. The interior of the pizza shop is pretty chill with red brick for that rustic feel, complete with pinball machines and records playing over the stereo. It’s definitely a place worth trying out whether you’re craving for a slice or looking at an empty fridge and decide it’s pizza night.
Earth to Table: Bread Bar — Because who doesn’t enjoy a stone baked pizza? Using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, these guys ensure that you are receiving nothing but the freshest of pizzas. They really focus on which ingredients compliment each other to produce a taste bud euphoria that’s sure to make those eyes of yours roll to the back of your head. For me, the pizza that best depicts this sensation is the “Bee Sting”. So with their amazing pizzas coupled with a relaxing atmosphere, Bread Bar was an easy pick to round off my list.
