Truebit ArtDAO Bounty at ETHDenver 2019

We are excited to announce that Truebit will be back this year at ETHDenver with the #ArtProject Maker Space to bring a workshop around the concepts of Autonomous Generative Art and the creation of ArtDAO’s using Truebit’s technology.

The Maker Space will also incorporate a funky hardware workshop to connect Truebit, and any other blockchain data, to Arduinos and Raspberry Pis to visualize the activity on the network in the form of colored LED lights.

The #ArtProject Decentralized community will participate with music performances by Brady McKenna, a Crypto-Art Exhibit by SuperRare and sculptural and crafty activities inspired in geometry and math.

All this fun stuff will be happening inside and around a geodesic dome that will provide the space for hacking the generative images created by your ArtDAO. Digital art pieces will be projected over the dome.

Join us to explore weird AI memes, a fun philosophy around autonomous software, and a bigger meaning behind thought provoking research and artistic experimentation!

Why Truebit?

Ethereum’s gas limit restricts computation via smart contracts on the blockchain. Using the power of Truebit we dare hackers to integrate image processing (or other programs) into their decentralized ideas to make autonomous art generators.

Using Truebit, more compute cycles will allow for more complex art to be created. Imagine it as an artificial life feedback loop!

What is the Maker Space?

The Maker Space is an initiative by Truebit and the #ArtProject Decentralized community that enables the collective creation and exploration of art through the lens of blockchain technology. People interested in hacking creatively and expanding the horizon of a traditional hackathon by experimenting with art and technology are welcome to join. Just come up to the 6th floor of the Sports Castle building in Denver! You can ping us to say hello@truebit.io too.

What will be happening in the Maker Space this year and how can you participate?

Lots will be happening this year! And the possibility to interact with a wide arrange of options in the Maker Space:

  • ArtDAOs creation workshop with Truebit — Bounty offered to the best ArtDAO created!
  • Blockchain data visualization workshop with Océane Boulais
  • Music performance by Brady McKenna
  • Hands on 3D sculpting and Bufficorn illustrating
  • Tokenized art exhibition by SuperRare and open calls for participation and mini bounties for the Ethereum community to explore blockchain in an creative and experimental way.

WORKSHOPS

ArtDAO using Truebit Workshop + Bounty

Led by: Harley Swick

Time:
Friday Feb15th, 9pm
Saturday Feb 16th 2pm

Location:
Geodesic Dome on the 6th floor

Description:
Truebit’s task solving api enables dapp developers to exceed the current power of smart contracts. This means these generators can make more intricate and complex types of art.
We can’t assume that an entity living on the blockchain has access to even a cheap laptop.

Materials:
+ArtDAO demo video and a Truebit Node
+Bring your laptop

Skills you will learn:
+Solidity
+IPFS
+Ethereum Networking
+Truebit / Second layer scaling
+Computational and generative art
+Artificial Life

Blockchain Data Visualization Workshop

Led by: Océane Boulais

Description:
A few ideas: 1) whack-a-task 2) ethics pac-man 3) RPi camera live stream with neural net style transfer> we will have a brainstorming session around these ideas and decide collectively what resonates the most.

Materials:
All the electronics needed, initial scripts to get the RPi camera stream working

Skills you will learn:
+How to brainstorm physical manifestation of blockchain technology tools
+Using arduinos to control LED strips
+Creating Truebit tasks

3D Structure Building Workshop

By Océane + Jessica

Description:
Using recycled cardboard, the ETHDenver creative crew will facilitate laser cut cardboard pieces for the construction of three-dimensional geometric pieces that can be connected to the LED lights and blockchain data visualizations created by participants in Océane’s workshop. Perhaps you can create lamps connected to the Truebit network?

Materials:
+Cardboard, tape, paint.
+Additional materials are Raspberry Pis, arduinos and LED lights to connect sculptures to blockchain data

How can you participate?

Come up to the MakerSpace on the 6th floor of the Sports Castle in Denver where the hackathon is taking place. We will be able to provide lodging to the 5 first people who sign up for the Maker Space, so hurry up and RSVP here with a brief description of what you are interested in: hello@truebit.io

Additional Activities

The Faces of Ethereum
By Simona Pop

As part of their continued work in broadening perspectives and inclusivity within the blockchain ecosystem, the Bounties Network team aims to launch and incentivize participation in a “Faces of Ethereum” portrait series. The project would be ongoing and hopefully become a constant throughout 2019 so that at the end of the year a giant image made up of all those building faces can be unveiled and sold at auction. Come up to the Maker Space and contribute to this massive collective endeavor! Maker Space Organizers
