Tell us a little bit about yourself

I was born in Kenya, then moved to Manchester, where I have spent the majority of my life. I enjoy fitness and playing various sports — mainly football. I am also a keen traveler, and I am trying to achieve and maintain visiting the same number of countries as my age.

What do you do at Truepill?

I am the Superintendent Pharmacist for Truepill UK. I manage and oversee all aspects of the pharmacy operation, from implementing policies and procedures to sourcing, dispensing, and delivery of medication.

What is it like to work in your field?

It is very fulfilling as you get to make a real difference in people’s lives by improving their health with the services we offer. It’s also very exciting as we are helping to change and update the norm of how people access and use healthcare services.

Why did you choose to work at Truepill?

When I found out the project and vision proposed — to potentially change the landscape of pharmacy — I had to join. I enjoy facing challenges and building pharmacies and teams from the ground up. The opportunity to scale these things with Truepill appealed to me. The combination of healthcare and technology also really appealed to me.

What makes working at Truepill unique?

The variety from day to day is like nowhere I have worked at previously. I never know what each day will bring. The great team culture and work environment also makes it different from other healthcare workplaces.

What inspires you?

Always learning, pushing myself, and stepping outside of my comfort zone, which are all provided by my role. Also, making a genuine impact on a patient’s health and healthcare experience by providing a great service. We have patients who know and ask for us by name when they contact the pharmacy and have a real rapport with us despite only ever communicating over the phone and never having met in-person. This makes me immensely proud of the work we are doing as a team.

What most surprised you when you started working in healthcare?

How healthcare is slow to keep up with the advancements in technology. We still use fax machines to communicate with other healthcare professionals. Bigger and quicker steps could be taken to implement technology.

What do you think the future of healthcare holds?

The implementation of technology will allow us to offer much better services to patients. Healthcare will become more accessible, efficient, and a more pleasant experience for patients.
