The coronavirus outbreak and the quarantine are affecting our lives in many ways these days. People are either working from home or are just stuck at home to help, well, flatten the curve and slow down the pandemic.

A lot of us joke that our grandpas had to go to war to save our lives, while we just have to lie down on the couch and do nothing to help prevent deaths.

Of course, this doesn’t sound that heroic, but it takes nerves to stay home in self-isolation and not get crazy at the same time. Many of you might have already started reading a book or may have finished one or two. Others feel stuck in Netflix, comedy shows, video games, snacking, or having beer all the time, while the rest don’t feel really motivated to do anything.

For those of you who have tried a million things to overcome boredom and are looking for something completely escapist and delightfully lazy, here is a list of apps to kill time during the coronavirus quarantine.

TruePublic

A place for honest opinions.

TruePublic is an anonymous opinion sharing platform where people come to ask questions they would not normally ask on social media and also to answer similar questions. Once you answer a question, you can immediately see statistical breakdowns of how others responded.

Apart from asking and answering questions, you can provide a reason why, and also see how others back their opinions. Not to turn this into annoying threads of communication, we have limited the reasons to only one reason per person. But if you like or dislike someone else’s reason, you can upvote or downvote it, respectively.

The fun thing about TruePublic is that it’s not limited to any topic. You can search, ask and answer questions about pretty much anything as long as you keep respectful towards the community.

Bubble Wrap Popping

Do you love squeezing plastic bubbles until they blow up? It’s undeniably fun, isn’t it? Now that we are all in coronavirus quarantine and we can go out only mainly for grocery shopping, it could be hard to find those bubble wraps anywhere.

But instead, you have got your own unlimited bubble wraps inside your phone. Check it out; you are going to feel way more comfortable and relaxed now!

QuizUp®

If, after popping some bubbles, you feel like doing something more intellectual, then go take some quizzes. QuizUp® describes itself as “fun, addictive, challenging, online trivia, that has the best of two worlds.”

Just like on TruePublic, here you can choose the topics you want to go into. You can play alone or compete with millions of other players. And if you are into chatting, you can chat with other players through the chatrooms or player to player chat.

Smoke Free

Well, okay, this one is not necessarily going to help you kill time. It’s more going to help you kill a bad habit such as smoking. Now that you are in coronavirus quarantine and you are spending most of your time indoors, it’s easier to control the urges to go out and smoke a cigarette.

The design and the whole user experience of this app breathe freshness.

Once you open it, it prompts you to set up a date when you are going to quit smoking. And everything starts here — every time you open the app, you can see how much money you have saved while NOT smoking, for how many months, days, and minutes you have been smoke-free, as well as track how your health improves with every smoke-free day you live.

Gamification is the number one asset of this app. The experience makes you feel like playing a game while at the same time working on quitting a bad habit.
