About: Dayton Truitt

Dayton Truitt, Co-Founder of Truitt House, is an up-and-coming artist in Detroit, Michigan. At 20 years old, he is just getting started.

Dayton discovered his passion for painting, and more broadly, art, during his senior year of high school, in 2020. He was placed in an art class only 3 months before the Global Pandemic. Dayton took his practice home and picked up graffiti as a hobby. In additon, Dayton’s first original paintings were made during the “shutdown”. Graduated from school, the development of his art became his priority.

Prior to that fateful art class, Dayton had shown signs of success in various fields, including academia, football, and track and field. Despite these successes, Dayton made the bold decision to forego college and pursue art full-time.

Over the last three years, Dayton has dedicated himself to organizing his life around his art. Seeing potential with commissions early on, Dayton painted on clothes, designed marketing tools, and created album artwork for early customers. Only months after picking up a paint brush, the demand grew. In his signature self-taught style, Dayton has become fluent in painting, drawing, and digital art.

Now positioned as a business owner, he’s worked on a way to control the narrative and sales around his artwork, and is ready to start making it available to the public.
