Mississippi State put together one of the nation’s best 2018 recruiting classes, however baseball is a different animal with trying to sway players away from the draft, and get them to campus.

The first Bulldogs signee selected in the draft was RHP Carter Stewart, who was selected 8th overall by the Atlanta Braves, his slot value is slated at $5 Million. Stewart was considered to be one of the best high school pitchers in the country, and Bulldog coaches have known for a while that Stewart would not make it to campus

The Next signee of the board was J.T. Ginn, who was selected 30th overall by the Dodgers. Ginn was also a RHP, and there were some rumors that he might turn down the money and make it to Starkville, but that does not appear likely at this time. Ginn’s pick value is slotted at $2.3 Million and it would be hard for the Brandon High School hurler to turn that down.

The last Bulldog signee to have his name called on Day 1 of the draft was shortstop Jeremiah Jackson, from Mobile, Alabama. Jackson was selected 57th overall, and his approximate pick value is set at $1.2 Million. Jackson is regarded as a great hitter and fielder and will be an amazing asset for the Los Angeles Angels Organization.

Day 2 of the MLB draft will begin today, and will be something to watch for Bulldog fans as some current players such as, Jake Mangum, Konnor Pilkington, Ethan Small, and Hunter Stovall could be drafted in the 3rd-10th rounds.
