Mississippi State followed up a disappointing loss Thursday night in game one of the series with a 5–1 victory over the Aggies on Friday. The Bulldogs were able to plate two in the first inning and another in the second to give state an early 3–0 lead where they never looked back. State was able to tack on another run in the seventh and in the ninth.

Denver McQuary got the start on the mound, where he pitched five solid innings giving up only one run on a solo home run and added five strikeouts. The good start from McQuary was a welcoming sight after three poor starts on the mound over the last three ball games that ultimately cost the bulldogs those three match ups. Cole Gordon entered in the sixth inning in relief and went on to finish the game without allowing a run.

The rubber match will be at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon on ESPNU where the bulldogs will look to take the series.
