Mississippi State re-gains a commitment from one of the state’s best.

The recruiting world is heating up.

Last night, Dan Mullen and staff landed 3-star Tupelo LB Jett Johnson over offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, and Memphis. Johnson, the highest rated LB according to 247Sports, became State’s seventh commitment of the 2018 recruiting class — joining high profile instate names like WR Malik Heath, ATH Nero Nelson, and DB Esaias Furdge.

Mississippi State recieved their 8th commitment early Tuesday afternoon.

4-star athlete Marcus Murphy announced his commitment to the Maroon and White, choosing the Bulldogs over programs such as Michigan, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. The West Point native has the play-making ability to make an impact at both running back and in the secondary, allowing college coaches to recruit him to play all over the field.

Murphy decommited from the Bulldogs in January, but the coaching staff has continued to pursue the dynamic athlete from the Golden Triangle. Brett Elliott is listed as Murphy’s primary recruiter. The new QB-coach was also a big factor in landing Johnson Monday evening.

Regardless of wherever Murphy ends up playing, expect the high level athlete to make a major impact as soon as he arrives in Starkville.
