End Illegal Immigration Act

End Illegal Immigration Act. Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country of Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a two-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a five-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions, or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.

Why it’s Wrong: Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has made it very clear that his country will not be paying for the wall’s estimated cost of between $12 and $15 billion. President Trump appears to know this because his budget proposal suggests taking money away from the Coast Guard, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Department of Homeland Security in order to start paying for the wall. The wall is ultimately a vanity project that has much in common with the president himself: It is gaudy, ineffective, and an incredible strain on our nation’s finances and moral standing in the world.

How to Help: Next time your Representative or Senators come around for a town hall, ask them if they support the border wall. If they do, ask them how they propose we pay for it; and if the answer is to make Mexico do it, press them to explain how in the world that is going to happen.
