Welcoming Edwin Miller as Sitka’s Chief Product Officer

In his new role, Edwin Miller’s team is bringing thoughtful innovation to our current healthcare system and solving real problems in real clinics.

As a small startup, everything and everyone matters. In this week’s Sitka Spotlight, we’re chatting with Edwin about his new role and the growing team.

Why did you join Sitka?

During my time at Aledade, I learned about the importance and difficulty of optimizing specialist (and Part B) utilization, cost, and quality. To solve that problem requires state of the art tech, elegant workflow design, strong operations, utilization of emerging data exchange standards, and most importantly, an actual clinical practice that understands the challenges PCPs have – and Sitka’s solving for this. It’s also better for patients — faster and more effective than traditional consult models.

Of course, the Sitka team was also an important part of the decision-making process. Since joining, everyone has been super receptive to new ideas and patient too.

What are three words to describe working at Sitka?

Trustworthy, adaptable, and low-ego.

How would you describe the remote work culture?

It’s a great model for hiring and retaining the best talent. At my previous company, we adopted a remote friendly culture from the start so I’ve been a believer. Having personally moved a couple of times for jobs, I also know how hard that can be on families. A remote-first culture makes a huge difference. With today’s technology, there’s no reason it can’t work.

What is your favorite movie quote?

There’s a quote from the film Field of Dreams:

Ray Kinsella: Fifty years ago, for five minutes you came within… you came this close. It would KILL some men to get so close to their dream and not touch it. God, they’d consider it a tragedy.

Dr. Archibald “Moonlight” Graham: Son, if I’d only gotten to be a doctor for five minutes… now that would have been a tragedy.
