It can be very hard to engage with people online to have a reasonable conversation about the #Truth2020 movement. Even harder is to explain how we can actually make a difference.

Fortunately, there is one goal that is truly bipartisan, which can have very clear results: start asking people to quote their sources!

We need to restore the faith in our journalistic sources. At the same time, we need to hold them to account when they publish false or misleading information. So far, this has manifested itself only as unspecific accusations, which themselves are either false, or are too vague to force a correction. By citing the specific content that is wrong, and posting a reference to a source that shows the real data, the accusation becomes actionable.

The #Truth2020 web site provides a tag specifically for this situation: Source? You can help by responding to any post about fake news with this tag, and a (very polite) request for the information that shows the news is fake. By doing so, you will not only set a good example, you will help make people aware of the #Truth2020 movement, and how they can help change the standard of conversation online. Don't forget to use the #Truth2020 hashtag!
