moments away (poem)

moments away
a brisk night
fighting to reach the rise to the new day
the final night lonely enough

that’s the sun

hour by hour
the clock never satisfies
for a hundred years could have only been a day
oh why do i long for the unknown
but i see it so clearly

a glimpse of the future has become my reality
a moment frozen in time captured by faith

for as soon as that day breaks,
a flash of gold touches the sky
soon begins a new life
one we build together

and as each minute passes
we inch towards that new day
my heart grows in expectation of more to come

where my dreams bleed into the daylight
and the world is ours

hold fast
i see the dawn
