Sunset

i took this.

a chilling breeze passes through the follicles on my ears as i stare at the remains of the day
a gradient sky fades ever more blue as each second falls
small puffs of cotton candy become shadows of gray as the light stretches further west

your camera cannot capture the beauty of what once was.

deja vu
this day has happened again
i can’t help but imagine if you’re looking at the same sunset,
living the same day,
slowly fading into the same night

or is it an entirely different life.

has the sun set on you?

i beg to differ
but, differ i am

no sunset is the same
no end of day ends the same way
for when night falls, it falls quickly
the oranges and yellows fade to blue and gray

deeper i go into the night
i search for morning’s sight
the faster i run the slower it seems
from day to night
from dream to dream to dream

to dream

the night cools the heat of the day.
the breeze still flows and soothes my head.
my heart slows down to counter my heavy breathing.

when does the day begin or end?
or am i constantly existing, never to find a moment to rest.

the day might be over.
the night might be through.
there’s so much more to uncover.
but do i want to.
