You love to travel. Your friends and family love to travel. People you’ve never met before and are never likely to meet love to travel. So why aren’t we all using our knowledge and passion for travel to book great trips for one another? Well, that’s exactly what TRVL is going to help us to do. With TRVL you can tailor-make trips for other travelers — oh, and earn money at the same time. Sounds good, right? Here are the 6 easy ways you can earn as a TRVL agent.

1. By selecting a neighborhood’s best hotels

Combining your travel intel with our handpicked selection of hotels, you can choose the hotel you think is best suited to the person you’re creating a trip for. Let’s look at an example. A colleague is getting married soon and wants to stay somewhere special in Paris for her honeymoon. You know that she and her husband-to-be are both culture vultures, love good food and are looking for something romantic. You spent a year studying in Paris, and so they’ve tasked you with finding them the perfect Parisian hotel. Using your knowledge of the city and TRVL’s selection of the best spots, you curate a selection of hotels you know tick all the right boxes.

One of the hotels you recommend is the Hôtel du Petit Moulin, a four-star boutique hotel tucked away in the impossibly romantic Marais neighborhood. Your colleague thinks it looks just fabulous, and books it straight away. She pays just over $1,600 for a five-night stay and doesn’t think twice about doing so. Just by using your knowledge of Paris and the city’s best hotels, you pocket around $160.*

2. By recommending brilliant things to do

Do you know of some unmissable things to do that you know your traveler would love? Draw on your experience and knowledge of a destination to recommend different activities — and just like with the hotel, you’ll get your commission here, too. Let’s say you’re putting together a trip for a group of friends visiting London. You’ve already found them an amazing hotel and now you’re looking for some things they can get up to during their visit. There’s certainly no shortage of things to do in London, but that’s where you come in. You filter out a few activities that you know they’ll find interesting and discover that they have a penchant for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones — essentially any old-school British rock. As it happens, you had a great time on the London Rock Music Tour a few months ago and think that they would love it as well. Your travelers couldn’t agree more and book the tour for $184, leaving you with the easiest $14 you’ve ever made.* Travelers can of course book as many activities as they want, and you can earn
commission on each that they book.

3. By arranging car rental and transfers

Hotels and activities are one thing, but what about airport transfers and car rental? Let’s say you’re helping plan the trip of a couple traveling to Boston. They’re visiting the city in October, but are also keen on driving around New England to discover the famous fall foliage. You actually spent a week driving through New England last year — and you couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Using the research you already did for your own trip, you set about finding the best car rental options for the couple. Presented with a few different car rental options, they decide that they don’t need anything particularly fancy or powerful and book a no-nonsense runaround for the week. You suggest that Camden in Maine would be an excellent spot for some leaf-peeping and the very best lobster rolls. They book the car for $268, fall in love with Camden and New England, and you collect a cool $21.50.* That’s right, you still earn up to 10% commission.

4. By selecting the best flights

We have to be really honest here — you’re not going to make very much money from flights that you recommend to a traveler. That’s not to say you won’t make some money, however. Suggest the best flight options to a fellow traveler and, if they book, you’ll make around 1% of what they spend on their flights. Every penny counts! Adding flights to an itinerary makes it much more likely that your trip will get booked, too. You’ll be making your traveler’s life easier, providing them with the best, cheapest, and fastest flight options. They’ll reciprocate by booking the fantastic trip that you’ve created for them. And regardless, you’ll still earn the regular commission on hotels, things to do, and car rental or airport transfers.

5. By tailor-making trips for your friends, family or…anyone!

Whether it’s your parents, friends of friends, or complete strangers, with TRVL you can earn real money. How? By tailor-making trips that draw upon your knowledge, experience and passion for travel. After all, nobody knows your family or friends better than you do. Likewise, if you’re an expert on a certain city and a fellow traveler needs a few pointers — who better to put together their perfect itinerary than you? Imagine someone in Seattle wants to visit Amsterdam but has no idea about the city — one that you’ve lived in your whole life. They land on the Amsterdam page of the TRVL website and see you, an Amsterdam expert. You strike up an on-screen chat and hear of their love for cobbled streets and cozy bars. You send them a selection of hotels in the historic Jordaan neighborhood and suggest they don’t miss Café Papeneiland, one of the oldest bars in the city. And there you go — you’ve helped a perfect stranger book their perfect holiday.

Make a booking for yourself or your business and you’ll still receive the same commission. That might not be as much fun as organizing a trip for someone else, but the extra pocket money will come in handy all the same. Whether you save it for your own holiday, splash out on a new pair of shoes, or put it towards the next office Christmas party is, of course, completely up to you!

6. By earning karma points

There are some things that money can’t buy. That’s where karma points come in. While you might not be able to spend karma points, earning them feels pretty good nonetheless. By drawing upon your own traveling experiences, you will have helped someone to book their next trip. That person might be someone you see every day, or they might be someone you’ve never met before. Indeed, one day, when you find yourself needing a bit of insider knowledge, that person might be you. But really, the connection is irrelevant: you’ve channeled your passion for travel, earned real money and made somebody else’s day — not to mention their holiday!
