“Don’t wait for Inspiration — It’ll do you no good!”

Many writers will tell you that.

But is it so wrong to long for inspiration?

According to Oxford Languages, Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Now, that’s not so bad, is it?

Yeah, but the problem is inspiration isn’t there 24/7

It comes and goes.

But something else can surely replace it — Comfort!

When you’re comfortable writing, it becomes a part of you — something you must do over and over again.

And there are several ways to gain that comfort.

Of course, one is building a regular writing habit. But apart from that, every writer has their criteria for comfort — their Ideal Writing Situation.

It may have to do with your environment, time of writing, tools, and even your mindset.

Mine is writing late at night with some music playing in the background (occasionally). That’s when I feel the most relaxed.

And the best part?

Once you’re comfortable, it’ll be easier to focus, which will get you inspired and into the flow state.

It’s all tied together!

So, what’s your ideal writing situation?
