Lagos literally means “Lake” in Portuguese and Spanish. Nigeria’s bustling business and entertainment hub has no shortage of water (787 square kilometers of lagoons and creeks to be exact) which means an abundance of waterfront dining options. Understanding that all food is not created equal we’ve compiled this list of our favorite waterfront eating places in the lagoon city.

1. Primi Piatti — Located on the main thoroughfare in Lekki, a posh Lagos suburb, Primi Piatti serves up Italian cuisine with a killer view. The outside deck over looks Lagos Bay and you can often see a yacht or two nesting in its’ waters. The restaurant often has specials and everything is made from scratch, including the garlic bread that comes out piping hot and delicious every hour. Primi Piatti is open for lunch and dinner daily. 2. Churrasco at the Lagoon Restaurant is a meat lovers dream. The Brazilian-style churrascaria serves up succulent grilled steaks, chicken, and more against the backdrop of the Lagos lagoon. The restaurant is sort of oddly joined to an Italian eatery (we will forgive them for the concept) and has a lounge/pre-gamey sort of vibe on the weekends. 3. Surface Bar & Grill — Inside of the Radisson Blue Anchorage Hotel, Surface is really about taking in the view and looking the part. The contemporary style of the hotel extends itself onto the terrace where you can enjoy the breeze of the Lagos Lagoon. Order the prawns and french fries and thank us later. 4. Ember Creek — Frequently bought out for private events sponsored by international brands, Ember Creek’s setup is hard not to love. Whether you choose to sit by the pool overlooking the lagoon or take things inside for some high level people-watching this restaurant turns into one of Lagos’s premier nightspots when the sun goes down. Order the Suya and some Jollof rice to go with the view. Ember Creek // 32 Awolowo Road // +234 1 740 9277
