To kick off the Chale Wote Street Arts Festival 2015: African Electronics, we hosted the Electric Ladies Brunch. Filled with delicious food and drinks and thought-provoking conversations, the intimate gathering celebrated women creatives’ talents and contributions to the festival and to Africa’s broader creative renaissance. Creatives are a part of our DNA here at Tastemakers Africa so from time to time we bring people together in our destinations to connect to the heart of what’s fresh. Here’s your sneak peek inside the event:

Avenue Lincoln Townhomes, part of Wonda World Estates’ portfolio of luxury properties and the official accommodation host for the Wàllá Dá experience, made the perfect backdrop for the brunch. Just minutes away from Accra’s nightlife district and neighbor to several diplomatic missions, Avenue Lincoln is an excellent post for any jetsetter to explore the city.

Start your sojourn at Avenue Lincoln with a glass of welcome Prosecco at your own private bar set against floor-to-ceiling windows. After a few sips, meander into the cozy living and dining rooms which are peppered with vibrant, eye-catching modern art and contemporary furniture. Four bedrooms and three-and-a half bathrooms unfurl across three stories. Each bedroom and bathroom is as uniquely decorated as it is uniquely designed. Exquisite interiors aside, it’s the modern conveniences that make Avenue Lincoln an urban oasis in the heart of the city: a well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, washer + dryer, WI-FI, parking garage, generator, and hot water heating system. And that’s not all. There’s plenty to keep you busy in Avenue Lincoln’s environs: access to a rooftop patio space, gym, swimming pool, and outdoor bar.

Jam Jar — an event rental and design boutique — came in and transformed Avenue Lincoln’s outdoor terrace space with their one-of-a-kind furniture and décor made from reclaimed materials and flowers from Fresh2UGh. The JamJar team went over and beyond to create a vibe that was just as eclectic and electric as the event’s attendees.

We worked with Chef Selaisse and the Midunu Nomadic Dining and Catering team to create a Pan-African spread that reflected the flavor profiles of our launch cities. The spread included: Chicken and Waffle Cones, Fried Plantain Cups stuffed with Egg Sauce, Spanish Tortilla Bites, Hausa Koko Shooters topped with Bofrot, Kose Lollipops with Spiced Tomato Jam, Mini Pancakes Stacks, and mini Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Coulis. Accompanying the spread, was a signature fresh juice and mimosa bar which featured local ingredients like moringa, passion fruit, and dried hibiscus leaves. If you’re heading to Accra and looking to bring people together — you can book a pop-up dining experience with Chef Selaisse in the TSTMKRS app launching this month.

Ambiance and food aside, the brunch was truly about celebrating and connecting women from all walks of life who are boldly living fully expressed lives by creating art in many mediums. It was an astounding success with the generous support of our partners South African Airways, Petronia City, Africa World Airlines, and resident illustrator Nicole Updegraff.
