5 Reasons Why We Love Maisie Williams
Happy birthday to one of our favorite actors, Maisie Williams! Today the Game of Thrones actress turns 20 years old (Yup, it’s been that long!). Here are just a few of the reasons we love the talented young star here at Tubi TV!
1. Two words: ARYA. STARK.
Okay, this one is just obvious, so let’s get this out of the way. The character Arya Stark was an audience favorite on Game of Thrones for good reason. She was scrappy, quick-thinking and never afraid to stand up to the bullies and schemers that surrounded her. In a fictional universe where even the biggest, baddest warriors and rulers could become victims in horrifying ways, the fact that a young girl like Arya managed to outrun, out-think and outfight people twice her size and age was downright inspiring.
2. She’s multi-talented.
Maisie has been dancing for years and studies musical theatre, ballet, pointe, tap, street, and freestyle, as well as gymnastics and trampolining. This video from Woven Films shows her going through her regimen of singing and dancing lessons at Bath Dance College, and honestly? We feel tired out just watching it. Good on you, Maisie!
3. She’s one of the actors that made this Funny or Die sketch happen…
…and for that we should all be grateful. Bonus points for the appearances by some of our favorite British actors.
4. She’s hilarious…and relatable.
Maisie’s Vines and Instagram posts are a thing of beauty. They range from hilariously relatable slice-of-life jokes to downright gorgeous (we’re only kind of insanely jealous of her vacation in Morocco with her boyfriend). The actress is clearly both goofy and wickedly smart. We love her humor and down-to-earth attitude.
5. She goes for surprising roles.
Since the end of her run on Game of Thrones, Maisie hasn’t shied away from experimenting with challenging and unexpected acting roles. From charming indie films like Heatstroke and the comedy Gold to her guest spot on Doctor Who, Maisie is a delight in every project she appears in. Most recently, Maisie starred in the new Netflix Original iBoy, based on the book by Kevin Brooks. She’s clearly an actress worth keeping a close eye on.
