Chrome extensions allow you to supercharge your design process by giving you powerful tools to work with. Here are a few of my favorites.
- Colorzilla — I use Colorzilla’s eyedropper tool frequently to get the color of any pixel on any page. It also includes goodies such as a gradient generator and webpage color analyzer.
- WhatFont — Identify web fonts instantly by hovering over them, or click to see the full font-stack, font-size, and alphabet in that font. Simple.
- Emmet Re:view — A deliciously smart way to test responsivity across multiple devices side-by-side. You can see how it will appear on all Apple model phones at once, for example.
- Form Filler — A critical time saver when building forms, the form filler supplies dummy data to all form fields so you don’t have to do it yourself.
- Web Developer Checklist — A simple way to check how compliant your site’s code is with best practices.
- CSS Peeper — A very clean and well-organized way to inspect styles, grab page colors, and export images with no fuss.
- Stylebot — Allows you to manipulate the appearance of any website with custom CSS. Stylebot stands out because it uses buttons instead of typing, making it simple to experiment on many styles.
- Web Developer — This is a comprehensive development toolbox with more features than I can list. In a nutshell it gives you the ability to disable certain styles, display element information, and validate site code.
- Page Ruler — The best extension I have found for measuring the height and width of freeform rectangles, or defined page elements.
- Pinterest — An quick way to save images to pinterest, perfect for collecting inspiration for a project.
There you have it! I hope this helped you to rev-up your design workflow.
