And hence becoming the number one preferred BCS cadre in government jobs. And to become this cadre, there is a war of study.

There is a strong determination in the minds of the students to move forward.

Not only the students who have passed out of the university are chasing BCS but also many students of engineering or medical college now want to leave medicine, engineering and become magistrate or police.

The BCS (Bangladesh Civil Service) Exam is an important exam to get a government job in Bangladesh.

Students want to take this route for many reasons to appear and help in these exams like government services, social services, career opportunities, and military and financial security among today’s youth.

Those concerned say that students are running after BCS for the sake of secure livelihood. The main goal of university students is to become a BCS cadre anyway. If not, life is in vain.

The status of professionals such as doctors, engineers, and teachers should also be ensured. It is normal for job seekers to pursue BCS if they cannot secure a life in other professions.

Meanwhile, about 41 percent of the country’s youth are inactive. That is, they are not in education or employment. Not even training for any job. The rate of inactivity is higher among girls, at 61.71 percent. This rate is lower among boys, 18.59 percent. Day by day the number of such youth is increasing.

Recently Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics 2022 report BBS has taken the age range of 15 to 24 years to determine the rate of inactive youth. Based on their rate, it can be seen that the number of inactive youth is around 1 crore 29 lakh.

As the number of candidates in the BCS exam increases every year, it is being discussed in various quarters. Some logical reasons can also be found as to why young people are opting for BCS. For example, various policies in different ministries of the government, increase in government employment opportunities in new pay scales.

A few other reasons also emerged. For example, social status, transparent recruitment process without much hassle during the present government, merit evaluation, salary almost equal to private jobs, security in government jobs, due to family pressure, for power, BCS jobbers are more valued in the marriage market, pension after retirement from government jobs. and gratuity facilities,

Educated youth are leaning towards government jobs for various reasons including lack of capital to become entrepreneurs after completing their studies and lack of family support in this regard.

Only the lure of inflated salaries and lucrative pensions attract talented students to the university! Young people choose BCS as the best sign. Because they want to engage themselves in governance. A regime that entrenched the country’s slavery, made poverty increase.

BCS is not a mere job test, it is like choosing a ‘lifestyle’.

Many people don’t like this lifestyle choice. Many people in Bangladesh are attracted to a challenging, creative, and independent life instead of running after a boring government job.

Because of this, many feel more comfortable engaging in high-paying private jobs, owning businesses or family businesses. Besides, private university students have less tendency to participate in BCS than government university students.

Many are more interested in creative or technical work, so they are less inclined towards government jobs.

Young people are now flocking to these cadre services for the sake of unusual “respect”. Where the main reason for joining the service should have been to serve the country.

Instead of that, the service now has its sugarcane harvesting facility, so everyone wants to come. Do you expect service from those who enter the service with this mentality?

I saw the writing of a cadre in Quora, he is directly saying that there is no value in other jobs, only BCS is the only eligible job to serve the country. If you think about it, what are they thinking about entering the service?

There is no denying that students studying demanding subjects like CSE, EEE, and IT in the best private sector universities in the country sometimes struggle to get a job of their choice.

Even though a group of young people are going abroad, another group is going to BCS, so the country’s work is to bring people from China and India with more money.

So the obvious problem with this is multidimensional.
But the result of this is that the country is getting a new generation who are more skilled in memorization rather than analytical ability. Those who are more interested in reading MP3 than science, technology, philosophy or economics. Because of BCS-oriented studies, students study with importance. As a result of which they fail to give proper attention to the subject studies.

As a result, students are not achieving the desired goal of higher education.
