TulsaUX had its’ inaugural meeting last night, at the 36°N co-working space in the the Brady Arts district. We had over 25 people in attendance. We were blown away from the amount of support we received from the community and sponsors.

Meeting Recap

The meeting kicked off with pizza from our food sponsor, TEKsystems. We introduced ourselves and mingled for the first 30 minutes.

The meeting started in earnest with an overview from Maxx on the group’s mission, a quick summary on user experience by definition, and a roadmap for what is next for TulsaUX.

TulsaUX’s Mission Statement

The Tulsa UX user group unites Tulsa’s user-experience practitioners in order to expand our skills and improve our community’s experience.

Our speaker this evening was also Maxx. He spoke about the 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design by Jakob Nielsen.

UX Protips

The meeting closed with a round of UX Protips. The session was a 15-minute open discussion forum where anyone in attendance could stand up and give a brief lesson on or insight into UX.

One of the attendees gives a protip to the rest of the user group.

Over ten people contributed to topics ranging from the importance of user research (and knowing when to go off script) to testing and considering demographic backgrounds when creating software.

If you were in attendance last night, please be sure to take our post-meeting survey! We want to improve on last night’s meeting and tailor the TulsaUX user group to the community.

Thanks again to everyone who attended! If you would like to be involved in our group, please drop us a line at hello@tulsaux.com!
