Lindsay Patterson, CEO of Tumble Media and co-founder of Kids Listen, will co-present the findings from the Kids Podcast Listener Report from Edison Research, in partnership with Kids Listen and sponsored in part by Tumble Media, along with American Public Media, Disney Podcasts, and Wondery, on Thursday, July 27 at 2 pm EST.

The survey will reveal attitudes about podcast listening from a nationally representative survey of parents of children ages 6–12, for the first time. Patterson will be presenting its results along with Edison Research Vice President Megan Lavozick and Sanden Totten, research co-lead of Kids Listen and editor of Kids Podcasts at American Public Media.

“This survey contains game-changing data for the kids’ podcast industry,” said Patterson. “For the first time, we have a clear picture of the value of kids’ podcasts, and the tremendous opportunity for growth among non-listeners.”

Tumble Media’s involvement in Edison’s Kids Podcast Listener Report is the continuation of the company’s pioneering research on children’s podcasts. With Kids Listen, Patterson helped spearhead its inaugural survey of children’s podcast listening habits in 2016, and its most recent survey, released earlier this year. Tumble Media is currently funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to study how podcasts can support inclusive learning in classrooms, in partnership with Associated Universities Inc, Oregon State University’s STEM Research Center, and Independence Science.

“We know through experience that podcasting is an incredibly powerful medium for children and their families,” said Sara Robberson Lentz, Tumble Media’s Head of Partnerships and Principal Investigator on the NSF grant. “Our research activities aim to discover how to unlock and leverage their potential across all audiences.”

“Learning is in the DNA of what we do as an educational audio company,” added Marshall Escamilla, Tumble Media’s CFO and Education Specialist. “It makes sense for us to help lead the way in learning about our audience, and further our mission of providing children, families, and educators worldwide with high quality educational audio.”
