Find out what co-hosts Lindsay and Marshall’s favorite episodes of the season were!

We both agreed that this was probably our best season yet, and that the show continues to get better. So stay tuned to hear what we’re already working on for Season 9. We’ll be returning on September 15, 2023.

But in the meantime, check out our favorites of Season 8 — were they yours, too?

Marshall’s Picks:

Why are Sloths So Slow?

“The research is just so funny. The animals themselves are so funny, and the fact that they fall out of trees.”

The Science of Ocean Sounds/ What’s That Bird Song?/ Hearing the Stars

“These are the episodes where I really got to dig into the sound elements of telling a story.

In “Hearing the Stars,” I got to create a sense of being in space and the vastness of it.

In “What’s that Bird Song?” I played with a ton of bird songs to create an environment.

In “The Science of Ocean Sounds,” I had some incredible sonifications of data to work with.

All of these episodes featured a blind scientist [as part of a project funded by the National Science Foundation], and working on this project has completely changed my view of what it’s possible for blind people to do.”

Lindsay’s Picks:

Moving To Mars? (Episode 2 of Life Lab)

“It’s a really mind-bending question. People want to live on Mars. We found a way to ask, “What would it take? And is it worthwhile?” It shows that you can continue to question science. This was part of our Life Lab series, about synthetic biology, and I’m really proud of all the episodes!”

What Do Dogs Think?

“My current favorite episode is always the one we’ve just done, and this was the last episode of Season 8. But I really loved the dog play. I thought that was super fun and silly to do.”

The Tomb of the Animal Mummies

“I mean, come on. Mummies! It was one of the most fun interviews because I got to talk to someone who had really wild, storybook style adventures in science.”

Season 8 might be over, but we’re still (crazily) making new content for the summer. We have a quiz show featuring Tumble fans coming up next — and the birthday shoutouts are on all summer long!
