Hello, World!
My name is Yvette Oruko, a 2D graphic designer at Tunapanda Institute. I’m very passionate about design because as long as you have the design skills, you can make awesome things which can help solve many problems in the world. My passion in design began when I was in high school taking Art and Design as a subject where I learned that design is not all about beauty but problem-solving. I used to do graphic design projects on paper and dreamt that one day I would do them digitally.
Thanks to Tunapanda Institute I got the chance to actualize my dreams by joining the three months intensive training program at the institution. I learnt how to use 2D design open source software such as Inkscape, Gimp and Scribus alongside other tech skills. After finishing the training, I was taken in for the apprenticeship program that lasted for 8 months. During this period, I learned a lot from my colleagues by participating in training and coaching trainees in 2D design.
To date, I use tutorials from the Internet to advance my skills in Graphic Design and my proficiency in Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After effects) has improved. I am now able to edit photos, create mockups, design posters and make awesome branded items.
My future aspiration is to pursue a course in interior design and grow in design at large so that I can be able to use more creative ways in solving more problems.
