Hello there. Are you wondering or not sure what to get engaged into after you are done with high-school and waiting to get further studies in a university or maybe a college? Let’s say you don’t have any job at this moment and this means you might be idle the whole day doing nothing productive in life. You don’t need to worry, Tunapanda Institute got you covered in this. The Institute is situated in Kibera, Olympic Estate — Hse. №13.
Wait a minute, let’s compare the current generation we are living in right now and during those days of our great grandfathers. Do you see any difference in terms of technology? Indeed there is a very huge difference when it comes to technology.
Tunapanda Institute is a community-based organization that was founded by two American brothers, Jay Larson and Mick Larson. Tunapanda offers a three-month basic training in practical tech, design, and business skills so that to young people so that they can become life-long learners, earners, and problem solvers.
During these 3 months, the students are taken through the main 6 modules which include:
a) Basic programming.
Here you are introduced to programming, for instance, making wonderful games through coding.
b) Graphic Design.
You learn the basic principles of design and therefore, one is capable of coming up with creative and awesome designs such as designing posters, logos and much more.
c) Multimedia.
Want to learn how to edit videos and audio? Here you go, in this module, you will be taught how to this. Not only videos and audio but also images and animations.
d)3D design.
Want to design wonderful 3-dimensional graphics or model staffs such as tables, chairs and much more? Then you are on the right track. We teach trainees how to do this using a software known as Blender. You are also capable of designing actual human beings in a 3D format.
e) Communication.
Communication is a skill that is very important in today’s life. Imagine you are going for an interview for a certain job you have been longing for a very long time and guess what? you have poor communication skills. Unfortunately, you will be left out. Communication does not only help you in an interview but rather it also helps you in any business. By this, I mean how to convince a customer to buy your product or any service that you may offer to the community.
f) Business.
This module is carried out throughout the third month. The trainees are required to come with a certain problem in the community that they might wish to solve either with an e-commerce website or mobile application. The trainees actually carry out the field work to see if the problem really exist and if it also needs a quick attention to solving the problem. After this and an app or a website is already designed, the trainees pitch their business ideas to investors who visit Tunapanda for the third-month final pitching. From this practice, one or rather two business ideas by the student might be sponsored by the investors.
After the 3-month basic training, some students are taken as apprentices in the organization. Here you learn how to be a professional in everything you do. By professional, I mean you are capable to deliver what is required of you under minimum supervision. You also get a chance to sharpen your skills which you got during the 3-month basic training or rather the skills you had before.
