Does SIZE really matter?
When you’re in a startup, the first ten people will determine whether the company succeeds or not. Each is ten percent of the company. So why wouldn’t you take as much time as necessary to find all the A-players?.… A small company depends on great people much more than a big company does. — Steve Jobs
About 7 months ago, I co-founded and took a position to lead Turing Solutions , a software development company. At the time, Turing Solutions was an enterprise at its earliest stages, which entailed the excitement of building something from its absolute and seeing how your personal contribution turns an idea into a working company. A few months later, Turing Solutions became fully functioning unit as a part of Turing Society ecosystem, which is an international network operating in 3 countries across 2 continents. The reason for its growth can be attributed mostly to how early we realised the need to agree on the central values underlying our company’s strategy. One thing we all firmly believed in from the very beginning is that we should strive for change over profits. And what could be more rewarding than advancing our education system?
#SMALL as a merit
Our team consists of six team members, four of which are developers. Currently we are working on an automated system to automate old-fashioned processes for a lot of public/private schools.
For Turing, system does not seem hard to develop when you have a lot of financial resources as a customer. However, non of the tech giants would be interested in such a project given because:
1. It’s too expensive for schools.
2. Big Companies are not willing to work on projects which do not give profit straight away.
3. Developers are too expensive for “trial” projects.
At this point smaller companies like us are more open for not only earning profit, but also, bringing changes to schools, who, from a personal point of view are upmost important in educating youth to become ready to create and make our country a better place to live in. Maybe even a №1 tech country!
For more changes being done in schools towards becoming №1 tech country follow Turing School.
Turing Society is a social-enterprise, focused to make world class tech education available to all. Since our beginning, we grew to an international organisation, with teams in Lithuania, The Netherlands and Mexico working towards the common vision of education.
Myself, I am a Co-Founder & Board member of Turing Society, My work in business development, international relations has led me to co-create a tech community & lead development company Turing Solutions.
