How are we different to other EdTech platforms?

If the blockchain market size is still very small compared to the classic Internet, the EdTech vertical is still smaller. So we’ll tell you about these ones and also comparing with the big centralized EdTech platforms as Coursera, Edx, Lynda or Udemy.

Our core: decentraliced collaborative platform based on videocourses with 4 years of experience.

a) 4 years of experience.

Let’s start by the end: we started in may 2013, holding now 1 million students, +120k videocourses, 3.000 teachers and clients in 160 countries. We are the leading educational platform in Latin countries, so the community which is using the product is huge.

b) Videocourses.

We believe in video as main tractor of the EdTech change: we add value with more services over the video, improving the learning experience of students, but we know studying is hard and through video you make it more exciting.

In october ’17 we hold more than 3.000 courses with a total of more than 120.000 videocourses, of all thematics and difficulty levels.

We were based in spanish -until now-, but with the new Tutellus.io will be open to english and other languages.

c) Collaborative.

This is a very important issue we have and don’t have others like Coursera or Edx: our content is produced by professionals, not academics. They are in the real market. They are expert in their matters, and are motivated to earn money with their courses.

And the more you participate in the Community, the more you learn.

d) Decentralized.

We migrated (and still are on it) our centralized model, similar to platforms like Udemy / Coursera / Lynda, to a decentralized one. Despite to have services 100% decentralized since day 1 (user reputation, reviews, question resolutions, tutorials…) we continue that guideline: actual services being decentralized are the activity course for students and the rewards model for teachers.

Why Blockchain now?

As you know, studying is a hard process. Recurring and usage of EdTech platforms is very low compared to Social ones because of the difficulty to motivate students to use the service.

But tokenizing our assets we can create value, rewarding users and paying them for studying: this process can be done through blockchain. We need a cryptocurrency to be able to make deals between actions and users. The token would be the gas, and the completion activities the rewards to transform in money.

Decentralizing is the key: we’re not interested in centralize decisions, power and richness. We believe that the more distributed is the value inside the ecosystem and between the players, the more valuable the company would be.
