‘Bodkin’ is a Fun Murder Mystery

A podcaster, a journalist, and a researcher descend on a small Irish town (Bodkin) to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three people twenty years earlier. As they investigate, they discover a more twisted story than they could’ve imagined.

I was initially drawn to this show because Siobhán Cullen stars as Dove, a brooding journalist with a traumatic past who doesn’t have patience for this assignment, this small Irish town, or any of the people she’s stuck with. Cullen also starred in the dark comedy Obituary, which I quite enjoyed, so I was excited to see what she would do in this role.

Bodkin is a ton of fun if you’re in the mood for a zany and twisty murder mystery with a cast of colorful characters. Does the story get so wild that it’s almost unbelievable? Yes. Did I mind that? Not really.

It turns out that the initial mystery that the podcasters arrived to investigate is related to many other secrets in this small town. We get to learn about fugitives, smuggling rings, assumed identities, unorthodox nuns, and much more. Each episode we discover something new that’s somehow related to the case.
