Dune: Prophecy introduces us to Valya Harkonnen, who does everything she can to protect the Sisterhood. She’s led this secret organization quite well until an outsider threatens her plans.

I have been excited about this series since it was announced a few years ago. When I read Dune, I was really impressed by the extensive worldbuilding in the book. But the people that I was most interested in were the Bene Gesserit.

I couldn’t get over the idea that this secret order of women was the power behind so much of what happened in the Imperium. That’s so fun and interesting! I am so excited to learn more about their order and all of the shady things they do in this universe.

The first episode of Dune: Prophecy effectively sets the stage for all of the drama that is to come in this show. In a pretty short period of time, we get to meet all of the major players, learn about their plans, and see how they may collide with one another through the rest of the season.

This episode also does a great job of rooting us in the Dune universe. We know about the Harkonnens and the Atreides from the previous films. And we’ve been to Arrakis and know all about the Fremen and their unique way of living. There are also some references to the sandworms in this…
