‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season Four
Our heroes have quite the Hollywood experience.
When Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) is murdered in the Arconia, our favorite podcast trio takes the case. Oh, and they also enter the world of Hollywood when a movie begins filming about their podcast.
Only Murders in the Building is such a fun, cozy mystery. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez have such a great dynamic that you want to keep hanging out with them. The juxtaposition of a millennial woman hanging out with two men in their seventies is a hilarious premise, and the show utilizes it perfectly.
What is most impressive about this show is that it doesn’t sacrifice depth in favor of silliness. Instead, Only Murders in the Building perfectly balances these two elements. Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short), and Mabel (Gomez) are all grappling with their own internal issues and emotions throughout the season, which influence the plot in important ways.
Charles is heartbroken over Sazz’s death and beats himself up over the fact that he couldn’t save her. She was constantly taking hits for him as his stunt double, but he wondered if he gave her enough support and help.
Oliver’s relationship with Loretta (Meryl Streep) is on the rocks as she is out in LA for work — her first big break. He…
