When I decided I wanted to become a journalist, podcast or audio storytelling was not something I thought about. In my opinion, it’s one of the forms of storytelling that is most neglected. When thinking about journalism most people automatically think about writing and broadcast — which is exactly what I though of. Nonetheless, audio is very much an effective form of storytelling.

I found out how amazing podcasting is during my time at Brooklyn College. I have taken two courses Audio Storytelling and Introduction to Radio Production. In these two courses I learned how to create stories using only audio. No written words or imagery was needed for me to get my story across. I was able to tell my story by interviewing others and simply speaking about my topic. I found a passion for podcasting that I never thought I’d had. Audio storytelling is another way for journalist like myself to have another voice.
