Mobile News is taking over and I say this because mostly everyone has a cell phone and uses it to obtain their news. People get news on their phones for one reason and that is because it is convenient.

Instead of waiting for a story on the news, going out to buy and read the newspaper (which many people don’t use anymore) or watching an hour long segment of the news, they can just pull up each trending story on the cell phones and read about it.

Although mobile news is convenient, I do believe it is a shortened/smaller version of the news. You can read about something but will not get the full effect of the situation like you would if you were watching it on TV.

On TV you have the anchor who introduces the story and the reporter goes into detail and often uses pictures, videos and quotes that are read aloud to you. As opposed to just reading about it on your phone you may just skim through it or totally ignore it if you don’t find any interest in it. The users experience is very well considered.

Considering the fact that there is even a such thing as news apps where you can download any news stations app and read up on the news, shows that the news and it’s platforms has come a long way. Social media is also used as a platform to obtain news such as snapchat, twitter and Facebook. Push notifications are also apart of the convenience package. Your phone notifies you when a new story is covered and trending.

I believe mobile news would be even more effective if people weren’t just mainly reading articles. It should be portrayed as it would be on TV but with the the power to skip and rewind the hour long segments.

Also with mobile news, stories are often more shortened than you would see on TV and that isn’t good. It should be as it is on TV, on our cell phones. I can see that happening as the years go by, there will be improvement within the mobile news innovation but this happens to be a great start. Being that it is “mobile news” I never expected it to be as it would on TV but if it was portrayed that way, then mobile news would be an even better source.
