Running a discord server isn’t always easy

For most people, running discord servers can be hard, or just at least be a little challenging. To learn how to make a successful discord server, you need to first take a look at your idea, be sure that it’ll work.

Heres a few things you should look for:

  • Does it have a purpose?
  • Are you passionate about it?
  • Are you willing to put time, and effort into your Discord Server?
  • How will you find the capable staff to help you run it?

But, before we get into that stuff, try to have a good server channel layout

Remember, stealing layout’s is not the answer, look into some more layouts that are a tiny bit different from others.

Now that you have your layout, you are ready for the next step!

Bots. Bots are very crucial in making a discord server, as bots will

  • Moderate the discord server
  • Organize tasks, and options
  • Bring more fun into the server
  • And much more!

If you’re wondering about what kinds of bots you should add to your server, here are some good ones that will improve your server.

Now that you have bots for your discord server, you’re ready to move on to the bigger things, Permissions.

Permissions are very important to the discord server, they will make sure every role and channel in your server has the right permissions to do a specific job, or for channels, if that role/person is allowed to talk in them.

For example:

Nation Paradise Owner Role, showing Administrator permission on

The administrator role gives the user the role, every permission except delete server. (Unless you own the server, which you do not need to give your role permission, but I still do anyway)

For more detailed information, go to Discord’s official help page on how to set up a server: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/categories/200404378-Server-Setup

Next step, which is where many people do get stumped on.

Advertising. Yes, advertising, people on Discord have trouble getting their server known to other people on the platform, some people break rules and DM advertise which is un-traceable unless it is reported.

BUT I would NOT recommend doing that, instead use Discord Server websites, where you can look for discord servers to join!

A good and well-used website to get members is “DISBOARD”

https://disboard.org/ (All the information you need, is on their site!)

You can go and start launching your server onto the site, use good tags to advertise your server, and try to be unique, detailed. Remember to have staff on, posting your server into the public, and letting anyone join can be very risky if you have no troll/raid protection.

I hope this article helped you start on your Discord Server, good luck!
