This new pitch event is sure to be a showstopper, and packed with community support and purpose to boot. At the event, you’ll meet 100 community-minded women and non-binary friends, and hear three powerful community organizations pitch their mission and work, with everyone voting for their favorite organization. Plus wine, did we mention the wine?! This new event is sure to make a major splash on the #TCSW scene, so we asked our friends at Power 100 to tell us a little bit more about what to expect.

Your event is new to Twin Cities Startup Week this year. What drew you to the week and encouraged you to get involved

The talented Danielle Steer, of Lunar Startups and formerly of Impact Hub, recommended we get involved with TCSW. TCSW is putting Power of 100 MSP Pitchfest on the map and we’re excited to use this opportunity to elevate the stories of innovators and changemakers from MSP’s social sector. We’re still not sure we’re cool enough to be part of TCSW, but the buzz is helping us connect with and activate so many awesome women and non-binary friends who are personally driven by work for community benefit.

What is your event, how does it work?

Power of 100 MSP Pitchfest is a celebration of MSP’s community change-makers. We’re asking 100 community-minded women and non-binary friends from across lifestyle and industry to invest $100 in one powerful organization serving Minneapolis/St. Paul. Three MSP change-makers will pitch their organization’s mission and work, together we’ll vote for a favorite and collectively award $10,000 to enhance the mission and work of the winning organization. Our inspiring MSP change-makers who will pitch to win are: Erica Gerrity, Executive Director, Minnesota Prison Doula Project; Carissa L. Carroll, Executive Director & Founder, Jack’s Basket; and Molly Berg, Volunteer Coordinator, Women’s Prison Book Project.

Our keynote speakers are Co-founders of The Coven, Erinn Farrell and Bethany Iverson. Our emcee is Brandi Powell, Weekend Anchor/Reporter with KSTP-TV (ABC affiliate) in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Oh, and there will be wine and light apps :)

Who is the target audience for your event?

Power of 100 MSP is a social impact collective for awesome women and non-binary friends in Minneapolis/St. Paul. If that sounds like your jam, we want to meet you.

What is the primary goal of your event?

Our goal is to bring women together around community engagement and to collectively gift $10,000 the year’s most inspiring MSP nonprofit

Startup Week is a great way provide resources, education, and engagement to startups and entrepreneurs, how does your event reinforce this

We’re using the buzz and excitement of TCSW to create a fun, simple and impactful activation of 100 women to provide resources for MSP’s social sector.

What other events are you planning to attend?

So many to choose from! Ones we’re particularly excited about are the Free Workout with Alchemy, “The Coven Presents: Getting Funded”, The Social Lights presents Social Media Trends on Tap and free co-working at Impact Hub.
